So why does the counter on teh first page say 997 ?

Obviously some programmer has two separate counters running, huh ?

OETT,
Trust me, that's not it. Get out a calculator and try it yourself. ( Although MY EE prof would have a shit fit if anyone used a calculator for 3 rows/3 columns addition ).

APFH, deleted posts count in the subtotals but not in the grand total. There are 9 extant posts out of the 12 historical posts in the "need something for today" folder. The other 3 were straight fastballs to McGwire.

One month for the first thousand, half a month for the second thousand. We're picking up steam......

and slightly over 10 days for the third 1,000. The rate has increased, but I think the acceleration has decreased.

justme,
Have you figured out a formula to tell me when the next data points will occur ?

Umm... well so far we've gotten a new k at 1/1 month, 1/2 month, and 1/3 month...

7.5 days, 6 days, 5 days??? Somehow I doubt it.

Still, a guess of 7 or 8 days for the next point doesn't seem that far off. Then maybe a few week long intervals. Who knows? I'm a topologist.

this makes 133 posts in the past 24 hours. assuming some drop-off on the weekend because we don't have as much time to kill when we're not at the office, we're pretty much on track for 8 days and change to hit 4k.

Are there any published metrics for public boards? Startified by sexual and nonsexual content?

the 24-hour figure is in: 118

this compares with 133 for the prior 24 hours.

at an average 125+ posts per day for the 2-day period, we are still on track to hit 4000 by next thursday evening.

of course, if gc gets lucky with a long l-o-n-g date, then we'll wait until next month...

as of 4pm, the 24-hour total is 29. this is obviously an 'outlier', due to its spanning late saturday afternoon to sunday afteroon.

guy catelli

the past 24 hours yielded only 30 posts. apparently, Ozzy has something really good going that he is hiding from the rest of us ;).

going forward, the daily posting average would have to be just over 175 to reach 4000 by midnight thursday.

4000 posts were achieved just before 4am, 10-1/2 days since 3000 posts were reached.
