View Full Version : Do you "escort" tweet?
In other words, if you're a provider, do you have a Twitter account and use it for your escorting business? And, similarly, if you're a client, do you follow escorts on Twitter and communicate via Twitter with them? Please tell us about your experiences.

It's just such a civilian site, I don't like to cross the streams.
That's what I thought, too. Then I realized a provider I knew was tweeting. And, when I started "following" her, I noticed that there were tons more providers in her "followers" list, as well as mongers (one I recognized from this board, in fact).

honestly, no. i have one separate account for advocacy of sex workers' rights, but it is not affiliated with my work or civilian persona at all. also, it is not a twitter. fake name, fake everything, and i don't write about my particular job or my personal life.
it just seems like a bad idea to blog/tweet openly about sex work. :/ i don't feel like being made an example of.

Lots of escorts and porn stars tweet - mostly nonsense, from what I've seen. A new trend in Eros Guide is for escorts to include Facebook pages and Twitter connections. Again, the social media is generally useless. Reviews on UG are much more worthwhile.
In some of the Tweets, you learn that many of these ladies lead very boring lives, contrary to what they would have your think.
Enjoy,
Chels

You don't really want your sex worker living a partying lifestyle that would make an interesting blog because it usually means boyfriend problems, drugs, mental problems, all these things will indirectly seep into your time with her. I think it's better to leave things to the imagination, much more fun then the realities of life.

First of all, quite a few providers blog (I have a separate thread on UG somewhere about just this subject). Some are quite entertaining. The better blogs are either subject based, so each entry is like a short article on a different topic. Or they're story based, so each entry recounts an entertaining hobbying experience. The ones that are more "diary"-like are a bore (from my perspective, anyway).
Second, I see tweeting as quite separate from blogging. Sure, if it's handled in a "diary entry" format, there are similarities. But there are many other ways to use Twitter. For traveling providers, for example, it allows them to let clients know when they'll be visiting or if they're available. And, when Tweets are handled cleverly, they can give the further illusion of intimacy, which some clients crave. Poke around on Twitter and see how some are working with the medium —*it's interesting.
Again, the social media is generally useless.
Perhaps. But I have to tell you, in marketing circles right now, social media marketing strategies are where an increasing number of businesses are putting significant dollars. The sense is that customers don't want to be told what a company's message is -- they want to control the message. So, if you're not engaging with the customer and creating a dialog, the fear among marketers is that you won't be taken seriously.
There are tons of ways to do this, of course. Simple emails back and forth, for example. (Or, participating in discussions on boards like this.) But, without "socializing" that aspect of your persona, it's not obvious to the consumer that you're open to a level of engagement they're becoming used to everywhere else.

It's been amazing to see just how fast marketers scramble to copy unanticipated success. Old Spice Guy is the greatest things since coupons and NBC is teaching people how to do scene by scene re-shoots. My fiance works in new media, so I'm kept abreast of much of the industry twitter. Still, a lot of this seems forced and the market seems to be incredibly sophisticated now. It's like we've hit the advertisers singularity: people become jaded by memes before marketers even become aware of them. I can't imagine how hard it's going to be to market to kids who grew up reading Something Awful and 4chan*.

Twitter is a weird thing. Everyone, when they first hear about it is like "why???" I tried it and had no interest. Then, about 6 months later I started following a specific friend who was funny, and prolific. Then I would see him talking with other people using their @name and I would look them up and they were funny and interesting too. Gradually I built up from there.
Twitter is only as boring, or as interesting, as the people that you choose to follow.
It helps to use one of the Twitter clients or apps. Maybe some regular Twitter users can make some recommendations here?
It's been amazing to see just how fast marketers scramble to copy unanticipated success. Old Spice Guy is the greatest things since coupons and NBC is teaching people how to do scene by scene re-shoots.
What's interesting about the Old Spice guy campaign is how Old Spice (prodded by their agency, Wi**** & Kennedy -- the Nike agency) quickly embraced the satirical spoofs that popped up on YouTube. It's almost as if they're rewarding their audience for "getting" the joke.
They've also reportedly had Isaiah Mustafa (the Old Spice actor) record over 100 responses to blog posts about the campaign. Talk about creating a "dialog" with your audience.
Some suspect that this effort was "helped" more than a little bit, and that the agency sketched out a character development for the Old Spice guy and have carefully picked the viral responses in order to carry out this development along a prescribed path.

So few internet based providers actually know how to utilize the websites toward peak profitability.
It's a relatively simple process and if they did know a LOT more women would be on these sites.
All that is required is to interact effectively. Yeah, men follow their gonads too much but many of these providers don't get that its the brain that is the dominant sex organ. If you get a guy to think [emphasis on the thinking part] you have something he wants he'll make sure he gets in touch with you to have a chance to get near it.

In my opinion I think that tweeting is OK in the vanilla world. But in the adult world when your following a porn star or a prov--and she tweets " I am horny as hell and I am getting fucked tonight" Well...that's hot!
BUT--Then two hours later she tweets " I am doing laundry" ...Well that takes away from the fantasy part--it brings you right back to reality and then you have to ask yourself--why the hell am I following her? LOL! Maybe the adult tweets should always be hot "tweets"! I don't know--just my thoughts.

If you tweeted a bit more conversationally, those who follow you might reply to something you say. Then, the people who follow them would see that they spoke with you and check you out to see if your tweets were of interest to them. Your follower base would grow organically that way.

Twitter is more like email insofar as it is consider a "push" technology that each client subscribes to. It is ideal for advertisers who want to communicate to customers on a more individual level. It's good for fostering communication to a few people, though as with anything digital, it can be broadcasted everywhere if someone set that up.
What's her name, Kelly... she could go shopping at Macy's, and when she gets on the train, she can tweet "heading out to town in Manh" and client phones will ring. Maybe one will decide to set up a session. Voila! Spending money for her, nookie for him, and she did not need to post on Backpage to the entire world.

I don't eat fast food, I can't stand the smell of all those places, they are bright and full of creepy people (at least here in NYC) besides the clown and burger give me the willies. I think it's just better to pack a PB&J if you need a mid work snack.
I will always encourage independent ladies to post, I am not competitive, there is someone for everyone and enough to go around but these greedy agencies that post 40 times a hour that ruin it pay as you post sites. LOL Fortydog.
Fairemily, when craigslist shut down the erotic section. Backpage is over saturated. In the short term it may be good for the hobbyists. You get the "pick of the litter". In the long run, you will just get more scam artists and aggressive women doing anything for a date.
Oh yea, if a woman expects her donation. I never haggle her down. I ask her "what do you want". She says I want 80 dollars. I say fine. Anytime, you get to arguing over price the session is certainly ruined.
My only problem with some girls is the say 1 price on the phone and than change it. Pretend like they never said it. I tell them look "you are playing games and leave". It happened 1 or twice in Orlando. I think she was an agency girl. She tried to pass me off to another girl (kind of chubby) , saying she "needs the money". I would have wore her out just to send a message. I figure I will make you work harder for your money since you need it so bad.
I should have took the girl that needed the money and break her back to send a message because the sessions are way better.
Even if she is not my "ideal" girl. But this is the bs you have to deal with.

LOL Fortydog.
Fairemily, when craigslist shut down the erotic section. Backpage is over saturated. In the short term it may be good for the hobbyists. You get the "pick of the litter". In the long run, you will just get more scam artists and aggressive women doing anything for a date.

I have negotiated lower fees, but always very carefully, and only when the starting price reflected a desire to entertain a very upscale clientele. I say that I am willing to put out effort in kind, perhaps bring a non-monetary gift in addition, but that xyz price in cash is something that I am not comfortable with. I am very careful to indicate that I am in no way suggesting that I do not believe the woman is worth the fee.
I have had terrific sessions come of this, and in the end the girl gets an honest, up-front client who treats her well. Really, you can spot the crappy providers (special offer etc), and conversely the girls can spot clients who are trying to design their own happy meal ala-carte.
I agree Fairemily it is saturated with these piggy face "hamhock" saddle bag hip hos on the board.
Hos look like they want Burger King instead of a "donation". Their incalls are full of Mcdonald wrappers and empty milkshake cups.
Some of them have the nerve to ask you to bring them Mcdonalds and "soda". Ho ain't you big enough? I am bringing you a salad with "salad dressing".
Anyway good seeing you again Fairemily. You are a great woman.
Irv, I want a picture of the girl's face the day you bring salad to a session. :)
