Sweets I think you were down south too long! LOL! This is probably the best series in the US- Its on HBO- do you have cable? Its like watching Goodfellows(MOB) every week- this weekend is the big 2 hour show!! Its the only TV I watch every week. The characters are so real and they are based in Joisey!!

I got the impression that Ralphie was already "whacked" off camera by the end of the episode. Tony alluded to something at dinner about business and such. I don't remember the exact quote. But if you stayed for upcoming secenes from next week it seems that there was talk about a hit that may have been outside of the family. Normal protocol would have been for Tony to get permission from the other family. But my sense is that Ralph is done. I''ll have to watch the re-run this week to see exactly what Tony said that gave me that impression.

the issue with the rapist and Dr. Melfi was simply a vehicle to highlight some of Melfi's issues with treating tony. The real key was her saying in her therapy session that she enjoyed the power that all she had to do was say something and she could have this guy snuffed out and then when tony asked her if anything was the matter she passed on it. just part of character development. you can't play up and develop all events. this served its purpose.

as for Meadow's roommate I have it on good authority that she is either not the same girl but has been created by the FBI and replaced Meadows real roommate and is spying on Meadow in the hopes she will spill something on her father OR

it turns out she is Burt Young's granddaughter and accepts the hit on Ralphie and after popping him has a psycotic episode, drives off the road and drowns in the Passaic River.

That shit with Noah's father obtaining an order of protection against Meadow's roommate was such bullshit and was very disappointing.

Could somebody explain to me why it is bad form for Tony to "bitch slap" a made guy, but perfectly acceptable to whack them?
Years ago when I worked in the garment district loading and unloading trucks for my old man, I met alot of the guys that owned the trucking companies as well as the loan sharks that helped keep medium sized businesses going when they were cash poor. Being a teenager I was not privvy to the after hours conversations that went on, but every once in awhile they let me hang out - these guys were scary/funny. Most interesting guy I ever met was a low level contract guy( I learned this years later when I met him again, in an operating room- another story) named Tony Duck, not the duck, just Duck. Apparently he got his nickname from depositing his victims in the then swamp still know as the Meadowlands, " Tony knows the Meadowlands like a duck" was how it was told to me. Funny, but Tony was the first person I can remember who would greet people with a now ubiquitous " How ya doin'"? Excuse me, I digressed

Agree, last nights episode one of the best ever, Paulie and Christopher were funny and pathetic at the same time. A nod was also given to "Goodfellas" and the scene where Joe Pesci character beats the shit out of made guy "Billy Bats" who keeps taunting him with the shoeshine routine. The guy isnt dead and Joe Pesci borrows his mother's carving knife after dinner to finish the job and then they go out to bury the guy.
I think the Pine Barrens were chosen to allude to Siberia, a place where the Russian would feel at home and the wiseguys would be at a disadvantage. Brilliant .

Latest interesting prediction I heard: Carmella finally gets fed up with Tony's philandering and turns states evidence!. Frankly , I dont think she will do this as the culture allows for Tony's dalliances, she doesnt like it, but she wont turn him in. Don't forget about Ralphie. It looks like Tony is allowing Ralphie to make the mistakes here. Its obvious Tony doesn't want to whack Jackie Jr., but since he's allowing Ralphie to make the decision, it would be his responsiblity.
Next week, last episode, last bets on who gets it in the end. Gloria looks like she out of the running, no mention of her in the sneak preview. And what the frig happened to the russion commando??? It's definitely something to do with Paulie and Chris. I put my money on Chris.

I think Ralphie set up Jackie Jr., only Im not sure why. Tony is definitely "handling" Ralphie, cant believe he is long for this world. Must protest how my second favorite character( first is Silvio), Furio, is being treated, every once in awhile he gets to beat someone up etc. , now he nearly gets his dick shot off. Gloria is not insane, fucked up, but not insane, Tony's "handling" of her was charming, but he did finally figure out that he chooses mistresses that mirror his mother. My question is, why did he ever choose Carmella?

I think Melfi said he was lucky to find Carmella. I don't think they ever went over how Tony and Carmella met, It probably would be an interesting sub plot. Should email HBO.

I read a great article yesterday that says that if the show ends next year as Gandolfini and David Chase have said, it will end with Tony having to choose between his family and The Family. Tony will sing like a canary, realizing that he cannot live his life the way he has, and the show will end with his family going into witness protection.

it sucked.

one shitty thing happened and they built a lame funeral and show around it. thought for sure they'd put the russian in it. HBO fucks up everything. thats why they'll never be like a real network when it comes to producing weekly series.

it just goes to show how they drag their ass's making this show. it went off the air in march and yet they only got around to filming last jan (they had the giant/ravens super bowl). this season looked just like they rushed thru it.

tony should skip the military school and beat that fucking kid(AJ) off every wall in that house.

Geez, to say it simple, the finale was for shit! Jackie is the only one to get it when Ralphie, Paulie and Chris could have bought it too! Too many things are up in the air! Tony is on the outs with Chris and Paulie. Paulie meanwhile could go with the NYC syndicate and also must be looking over his shoulder for Ivan! Meanwhile Adrianna next season will spill her guts to that FBI lady and down the road we could see Chris possible becoming a turncoat! Not a good finale!!

Don't you hate it when these sitcoms neatly tie everything up in a package after 22 minutes (or hour dramas after 48 minutes)?

You knew they couldn't get to everything in one show.

This episode made me believe that next year is the last year as the creators have been saying. Paulie's gone, Tony dissed Chris last night, Adriana has a new best friend in the FBI and Tony doesn't want to see his kids live the life he has (he blames his father).

Tony sings like a canary (or is that a soprano in the choir??) next year.

i didn't expect everything to come together but more than ONE thing....and the one obvious thing that everyone knew was going to happen, after last week. when the second biggest plot of the night(with all the cliff hangers to use) is AJ cheating on his test........

I must agree that the season finale absolutely blew chunks. I didn't like anything about it. Even with Meadow's "conflict of conscious". There was too much about Tony's family and not enough about Tony's Family.

However, on a brighter note, with the addition of Fairuza Balk (as the lady FBI), next season should be more interesting. I do have a bit of a hardon for gothic types which Ms. Balk is used to playing...So seeing her dark contenence along with Adrianna should produce interesting...uhhhh...visual scenes.

Although I must say, she has got to get rid of that hair!

And I have one question...
When did Artie get back together with that friggin wife of his???????!?!!?!? I thought they were in the middle of divorce proceedings. Yet at the wake, he was standing there with his arm around his wife and staring longingly at Adrianna.

Plot loophole? Editing mistake??

hmmm, maybe I'm forgetting 5 min. of last episode???

I think this was a bit of a ripoff from HBO. This was not a season finale, but an hour long teaser for next season. there was a little sizzle ( very little ), and no steak. They left all the interesting issues open ( the Russian Commando and the whole Russian "thing", Pauli and Chris, Pauli and NY, Arti and Adrianna, AJ's issues, Meadows issues, yada, yada yada ). I think part of the reason for this is that many contracts are up at the end of next season, and they are not sure if the next will be the last one.

What should have been the culmination of excitement that had built up from the past episodes was not a crescendo, but a refrain in anticaption of the next act. I think this is what happens when you let the marketing guys have influence over the creative process.
