whats up with the new LI Forum ??

IMHo, it was a great idea for UG Staff to start this forum .... LI deserved it own section and initially at least, the Forum started out like gangbusters.

Perhaps it was because of the holidays or some other reason, but things seem to have quieted down a bit.

I hope some of the big posters here return sometime soon and I will do my best to contribute to this area as well.

I am from Long Island, but those guys seem to have their own thing. I don't care that they do, but when they take a short break from posting, I doubt there are a bunch of people looking to take up the slack in their ongoing private conversation (its not the only board area that is an ongoing private conversation).

Except for appointments with UG Advertiser's and UG sanctioned events, UG'ers should never be meeting one another off the board. Over the years, many members have also posted this OPINION.

Quite frankly, the results have been less than stellar and it usually winds up detracting from or creating distractions on the Board.

I had read the rules, and the section you cherry picked is from a group of rules designed to stop stealth advertising (cut and pasted below), so I was unaware that joking about running into a well known group of members in a public place is too close to the line. I stand corrected.

When I go out with friends to a strip club I'll come back start or contribute to a thread about who i saw how much and how far i got...As far as chit-chat between the people i kind of looked at it as ball breaking fun, never meant to alienate people. Slinky, Seeker and Billy, I think you are being a little harsh in your statements. Sure we get together on the outside, but when we do and when we post about it, how is it not being informative to other members of UG? We usually post how the girls looked, how their dances were, how much they cost, if any extras were available and what they were. We also post how the bar was, their set-up, how the bartenders were and the prices of the drinks and if there were any drink specials. Sure there are some side conversations that go on. Big Deal. These conversations normally stem from the adventures of a member of the group who always gets contact numbers from at least two of the dancers everytime we go out. You all say that you enjoy those stories and members of UG keep those stories going in the threads with more comments or questions, so how is that our fault?

Here is some options to ponder:
1) If UG were to "enable" the membership list, that would allow others to either send private messages to others (like Long Island Erotic does) or to be able to send e-males to others so most of these "private conversations" would not have to be made on a public forum.
2) If you don't like what is posted in a thread, DON'T READ IT. Billy, you claim that postings of yours got overlooked and no one commented on them, so how is that any different than what your accusing us of? If someone had commented on your posts and started side conversations than it would have been okay?

As far as the CCC being a so called "private clique", when we had meetings in the past we invited everyone and many showed up, including Billy and Sleeker. So how can you criticize us when you attended some of the get togethers? We have had 20-25 different members of UG and other boards (and 3 providers) show up at some of our get togethers and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Noone said "aw man you guys are just a bunch of douchebags who ignore everyone else & I'm tired of reading your personal shit" ...And I think if you really go back through the thread as there have been other threads like it on UG(ie. the Latina Ficha Bar thread), there were very long stretches of just personal banter between a core group of guys who just happen to have the oppurtunity to hanfg out with each other it was not nearly as informational as you would make out. I myself have felt the same way about both threads. I unfortunately have yet to hang out with Gavy & the crew in Queens after 3 yrs. of on & off reading the thread. I started reading the CCC adventures for a while and tried to find a way to participate but really didn't have the time.....So without begrudging anyone whatsoever I really just don't read or contribute anymore. But there is always that lil bit of human nature that gets me jealous of the fact that I am on the outside looking in, simply because my current life situation does not allow for me to participate.

And just how is one supposed to meet IRL and get the e*mail's from others. There have been UG sponsored parties but they have been in the City and most of the LI UGers don't want to go into the city. There had been suggestions of having a UG party on the Island for just the LI guys, but that was immediately shot down. If this board were to have the private message feature enabled then we would be able to get private e*mails from other members.

I agree with this statement but there is something I don't understand. Since we (CCC) have met IRL, we tend to cover many different clubs, whether it be strip clubs or Edison clubs, and we do this either as a group of guys or individually and we see different providers and we post our reviews or stories about what has happened to us and where it happened. So we tend to post a lot more than others and then others chime in with different questions or comments that keep the thread going on and on and there is playful banter amongst us. Then we get criticized for being in a bunch of different threads and having side conversations and taking up the entire thread. Either you want us to post or you don't. Which way is it?

Hmm, I thought the thread was about why don't more people post on this particular part of the boards. I know there is criticism directed at the CCC (i don't even know what that means), but I find a lot of the posts to be informative and funny. I just don't see any need to post here as I usually have nothing to offer to their conversation.

I don't have anything to offer on the ficha bar threads either, but I read them. From my perspective as someone who is still very new to UG, the situations are parallel and I could give a rat's ass about how in reality they may be very different to someone who has been here for a long time.

I was hanging in some of the same places as Gavy and Bunyon, so it was just a matter of time before we ran into each other.

My point was, if guys know each other IRL, there's no need to have PM or e*mail functions as part of this board.

If guys don't know each other IRL, having those functions enabled will certainly be the downfall of UG.

I never feel like an outsider. I was doing my thing and reading UG. UG was my destination all along. So it feels natural for me to be here. As for kicking it with UG members. Shit I think I have run into UG members seeing the same hos and never knew it. I know I am on the flushing stroll driving through and I figure UG cats are out there. If new people come I will talk to them.

At the end of the day if LE gets you, nobody will care what UG member did not like another UG member.

And it is that fear and reason that the pm and em are not active. It helps eliminate that. If people do meet and know each and exchange info back channel there is nothing you can do about it. But the Board doesn't condone it and won't facilitate it.

I didn't think my remarks were harsh. They weren't even really a criticism. I should have clarified that I meant I don't post much in the LI Action thread anymore. I had posted something about Shady Al's (at least I thought it was in the LI Action thread), about the shitty time I had and got no response. I was curious to see if anyone was going to comment so I checked back a few times but nothing. No big deal. But it did cause me to think twice about posting in there again. Then Seeker, ever conscious of post counts and view counts (LOL) started this thread on why more LI guys weren't posting in the LI section. I thought Slinky made a good point and hit on why guys other then the core guys don't post and I posted (with some hesitation) that his thoughts were correct. I specially pointed out that I didn't begrudge the CCC and admitted I enjoy reading about their adventures. I didn't think some of you would take it so personal. Yes teps, you guys do provide good intel on who is dancing where and how the laps are. Nobody said you guys shouldn't do what you are doing. Having been to the last three UG parties in the city I know it would be extremely difficult to have that type of party here on LI. That's what I said. Actually I've always wanted to be UTR, not a decision I made after the CCC meeting at the Trap. I've resisted meeting other members for years but figured the parties in the city were safe. The first time I went I was walking around expecting to see my boss, brother, or someone I knew.

Well, I know that the activity in the ficha bar thread slowed down lately. Mainly because Gavy is on hiatus, but there may be another reason. The core crew does not share much there anymore since they can communicate back channel. It's nice for them, but as an outsider I don't feel as welcome and consequently don't share as much as I possibly could. Not that I feel any animosity toward them, just distanced.

It's not that at all forty. We just haven't really hung together in a few months. My last time in Queens was late May and I think Bunyon said his last time was June or July. Gavy's actually working on a real relationship (go figure :)) If we continued posting when there's really nothing to say, all it would be is stuff that basically falls under the heading of "private conversation", and who wants to read that?

Obviously, the next time we hang out, you guys will be the first (ok, maybe the fourth) to know about it. :D

I agree lightweight. That Ficha bar scene intrigues me but that is a tough group to crack. And I totally don't understand the whole concept so I cant go at it on my own and step on my dick in one of those places. It sounds like some the places have a violent history.

It's really not all that bad. But, unless you speak spanish, or have friends that do (Bunyon is really luck he has us :)), chances are you won't understand it when its going down.

For the most part, its buying girls drinks, trying to get in thier pants, and watching out for the occasional wingnut who is pissed off about it.

Good looking out! When I first started reading UG, that was all I cared about. That and getting/sharing info on asians I could pay to fuck. When it comes right down to it, everything else is just fluff IMHO.

Skelly, you are correct. You did not get on anyone for doing anything in this section. My reply was basically to the statement that a private message function could not work on this board because it would lead to what has happened with the guys from the Latina section. The pm function has worked on other boards (Long Island Erotic) and there is still reviews passed back and forth. The fact that the guys in the Latina section don't post that much because they use back channel comunication is because they choose to do it that way. They could post everything that goes on (like the CCC members choose to do) instead of just e*mailing each other.

Also, as you can see from several of the other postings, some of the other members of UG like our stories but they do feel left out and would love to attend some of our get togethers. Having a pm function would allow us to be able to inform other UG members (who are not on the other board) who would like to join us, about our get togethers.

For the record, this is not what has been happening. Unless we're actually hitting up Ficha bars, what could we possibly have to post about in LFB that would be remotely interesting to UG readers? See post #70 for a more detailed explanation. Same goes for War Stories. Gavy has updated everybody recently about his pursuits, Bunyon was out of the area and just got back. As for me, without divulging too much info all I can say is that until recently most of my free time was occupied with the problems of someone very close to me, and I'm sure you guys don't want to read about that.

Honestly, we're doing the right thing by not posting when there is nothing interesting to say. It has nothing to do with back-channeling.

I think when this thread was mad, there were not a lot of recent posting in the LI Action section because of what you posted. Really nothing interesting to post. This is something I have a lot of experience with, and I'll say that it doesn't work. Almost every PMB I've ever seen, you do get reviews posted, but they are more and more bullshit because everyone know the truth gets passed around back channel. Any htere are some boards which used to be big and it basically killed (************* for NY is one example).
