Review: Upscale Semi-UG place on West 38th

Recently I discovered this fairly upscale semi-underground place on the West 38th, between 8th and 9th. Sorry, I didn't catch the name of the place. Its on the 5th floor of a building that seems commercial, but I was told by one of the dancers that its a residential building.

The cover is a little stiff at $50. I believe you have to be a member or be escorted by a member. I went with a friend who is a member. The steep cover is somewhat offset by the fact that it is BYOB.

The place is really nice and plush. It is spread across three separate rooms. The main room is setup like a large living room or like a hotel lobby with nice couches and chairs. There is a bar in one corner where they stock soft drinks, water etc. You give your booze to the bartender behind that bar, and he serves from that stock to people in your party. Mixers for your drinks are on the house. There is also a buffet station with decent quality hot food. This room is the main mingling room where you chat with the dancers or just chill on the couches with your drink and munchies laid out on the tables. The other two rooms are LD rooms. Again, nice rooms with couches and beds. There are folding partitions affording some sort of privacy in these rooms.

The talent is very good. A good mix of dancers from around the world. Saw a couple from Kazakstan, one Japanese, an Israeli, a Korean, a few natives etc. Overall, I would rate the talent from 6-9.

LDs are $20 per. The length seemed to be longer than typical SCs. Tops come off in the LD room. Mostly free roaming, except for insertion. Saw one performer remove the bottoms as well, though I learned that she asked for an extra $20 for that.

There is a private room which I didn't visit, so don't know how the room is. I understood the room cost to be $160 and the rest to be worked out with the dancer.

Overall a nice place with a great ambience and good talent. Will definitely visit again.

Buffet is of decent quality and it's free.
If he stopped charging for mixers and soft drinks- it's news to me and my sources. He always used to charge for EVERYTHING except bathroom usage.( They were never large enough to permit Lou to stand by the sink and collect tips.)

The talent is almost entirely amateurs who couldn't get hired or make money in a straight tittie bar. A lot of ink.No work-out warriors. Very few enhanced ladies. Well, this bd. is built on OPINIONS and yours are just as worthy as anyone else's.TUSCL is a well-known strip club review site. Lou was busted numerous times for self-posting on it. (It's like when an escort self-posts on TER.) I called him on it; he admitted it and I advised him not to do it and for a while he stopped. Then he resumed with a vengeance.

Is it worth $50 ? Not to me. Not based on ANY of my visits there which are now admittedly dated BUT my sources ALL report that there has NOT been any influx of great new talent
and if anything the menus have contracted so now you're paying more for less.

This spot location sounds like that's where a club called passions used to be. I think it was run by Asian management with all WOC's working there as dancers. $50 door fee does seem a little steep. I have not posted in a while but have been a member a long time I have been to a couple of lou's parties ever since he started with the ld parties on 26 st on the 4th or fifth floor then moved it to a club on 26 or 27 st it was a bar and has always charged 20 to get in but ever since mike on 36 st opened up his shop and charged 40 to get in he raised his price to 50 since then mike has closed down and lou is still charging 50 in any case I think lou is stupid for charging so much since there was better quality at mikes anyway

I visited this place with a friend last night. Neither of us had ever been there and we did not RSVP through the website (I don't know how he knew the exact address) so we had to pay 70$ (50$ admission and 20$ "membership" fee) and get the suspicious up and down look from the Israeli Army vet at the door. Once our utter incompetence and nervousness proved to them that we were not LE, they "let" us pay our 70$ and enter the club.

I have to admit, I was skeptical because of all the bad press on this board about this place and the high price. I generally also like to check out the goods on stage before partaking in a lapdance and that was not possible here. Besides these two issues, I really liked this place. The dancers were really friendly and only a few of them were pushy. I sat at the bar and talked with one girl for at least an hour and not once did she ask me for a dance and after the hour she just stood up and said it was nice talking to me and went and talked to her friends.

I had dances with two girls. I am awful with names, so I will do my best to describe...the first girl was from Uraguay but was totally white. She looked like a much less racked, not as pretty Heather Graham. Her teeth were not perfect, and she was skinny, short and blonde (not my type) but she was nice. We found a couch, she gave me a dance for two songs (never took off her top) and told me it was great hanging and asked for 20$. I was fine with the dance, but was ready to move on. She was def. not a pro, but seemed to enjoy herself and was a very nice person.

50$ is not bad, especially if you are used to 11$ buds at a regular SC. I bought a six pack on the corner for 10$ and broke even.

The only drawbacks (on my one and only visit, which is admittedly and small sample size was that the place was balls to the walls crowded because 6! bachelor parties going on there so it was kind of hard to check out any of the girls. I am also not a fan of the sybian show...although most people seemed to be. Other than that, I really enjoyed myself...at least as much as the couple of times I went to B&G.

I went to this place the other day, around 11pm - it was LOADED with beautiful women - representing more countries than the UN! Things are already deteriorating quickly. Have you noticed that ever since the Sean Bell shooting, and Sharpton’s demonstrations, the NYPD has backed off and murder and shootings are up almost to where they were during the Dinkens’ years. Developers are rushing to get their condos built while Bloomberg is still in office because he is offering them huge tax breaks. The number of new building is dramatically down from last year due to the end of easy bank loans. There is evidence to show that the NYC real estate bubble will soon burst.

Hey that place was going to go down one way or another for Lou was trying to get the most bang for his bucks on the customers. Everything comes in full circle. For months the topic "how the hell is Lou not getting busted" has been the fodder for my close circle of friends. but as much as I did not like the guy as a person, this is bad news for the business in general.

I doubt Mike will start a new place. Neither he nor Lou ever did. Mike was renting a spot from someone a couple of nites a week and so was Lou, until the owner/lessee of that spot got busted (Jason of foot party fame) and Lou took it over full time. Lou didn't build the place, buy the furniture, sign the lease: he was just sitting in the right place to take it over when the time came.

This was indeed inevitable. Love it or hate it, this is not good for the industry, and to my knowledge, it was the only club in the city that allowed full roaming during a $20 lapdance where the girls are on the whole quite attractive and you didn't feel compelled to buy a girl a drink when she sat down to chat with you. Oh well, back to Hustler.

Actual Lou Party was around long before Mike's. He jumped around until he got a permanent location.

Maybe they brought them back ? I stopped going there about 2 years ago when they opened up the downstairs rooms after the remodeling (and simultaneously closed the booths). If some new UG place doesn't materialize I may have to try it again.

Perhaps a group of UGer's would like to schedule a gathering there (or some other establishment) to discuss strategy and opportunities in the post B&G/HLDC era.

I mean I am a half full glass type of guy but after two big hits will anything like this happen again? Will someone have the guts to open a new place simmilar to the two above? I hope it is the latter for that after going to UG places the regular clubs don't compare.

The costs of openning places has risen substantially at the same time as a the risk has increased. Looking at it in a Keynesian way, that would mean prices at such a place would have to be much higher. So, if it does happen, I'm not so sure people will see at as being as much of a good thing as they anticipated.

This is a similar situation as with the upscale Asian massage parlors post-Dinkins. There used to be grand spots with fairly opulent facilities. But who was going to dump $200,000 into a spot which might get closed in 2 weeks? A question is "who would do it?". It's not like you're got a slew of guys who are doing something similar and might step up their game and open a spot: I don't think anyone is out there doing much of anything (except the guy who I see every morning while shaving, and he ain't doing nothin').

Well, if that really happened, they got fucked. The Empire State Development Corp stole the properties on 42nd St to hand over to pricvate developers who could have paid those high numbers for them, but would rather have paid much less, so they had their political cronies do a set-up job for them.
