This chain has two locations in the Torrington, CT area.

I have driven by the place at night and found cars in the parking lot.

This is a review of Shi-Shi at Leisure Life on Cove Road in Stamford. I've already entered this in the review database.

Leisure Life is a one-girl AMP on Cove Road near the beach in Stamford, above a convenience store. I called ahead and Shi-Shi was there.

Shi-Shi is about 5'2" and 95 pounds, according to her, and she's telling the truth. She's maybe 35-40 but looks okay. I bought an hour and didn't need the shower; the place is almost walking distance from my place.

Spa raids lead to prostitution charges

Police raided three massage parlors Thursday, resulting in seven prostitution-related arrests.

The undercover operation raided West Avenue's Crystal Spa at about 2:30 p.m., then moved to Executive Spa on Connecticut Avenue at about 8:30 p.m., before wrapping up at Main Avenue's Nirvana Spa at about 11:30 p.m., Special Services Lt. Peter Randall said.

Officers charged four women with prostitution, two with promoting prostitution and one with permitting prostitution.

"Surveillance has been made of these establishments for an extended period of time," Randall said. "We will continue to monitor these places and take the appropriate action if we see any future prostitution activity at these establishments."

The raid is part of a continuing crackdown on massage parlors police say are fronts for prostitution.

One man in the same building as Nirvana, at 181 Main Ave., which has been raided three times in 15 months, said Nirvana's reputation has made it difficult to do business at his address. Four woman were arrested on prostitution-related charges there Thursday night.

"It is an embarrassment to have this kind of business in the same building," said the man, who asked that his name not be used because he fears retribution.

"No matter how many times they raid that establishment, within a couple of weeks they are back in full operation. I don't understand because of how the state laws are written how they can continually be raided and not be shut down permanently," the man added.

A dental assistant working downstairs from Nirvana at Shel Dental said the massage parlor gives her business a bad reputation.

"We have kids coming into the office," Claudia Fernandez said.

Another dental assistant, Amanda Sgro, said her patients have gone there thinking it is a legitimate day spa.

One woman went there "only to find out that she was going to get more than a massage. She came down and asked us why we didn't tell her what was going on up there," Sgro said.

While five of the women were released on written promises to appear on bond, one woman charged with prostitution at Crystal Spa, KH, 55, was arraigned at state Superior Court in Norwalk yesterday.

H, of <address removed>, Flushing, N.Y., had her police bond raised from $5,000 to $7,500 by Judge Burton Kaplan at her arraignment because she is a flight risk.

H has 16 aliases and three prostitution convictions from New York's Westchester and Nassau counties in 1996 and 1997, said Bail Commissioner Muntega Belton Moore. She was convicted of jumping bail in 1997 in Westchester County and does not have proper identification, Belton Moore added.

Norwalk police have raided Crystal Spa four times in the past 18 months with prostitution arrests in each action.

During the last raid at Crystal Spa May 31, police made three prostitution arrests and charged owner HK with promoting prostitution.

K, who pleaded guilty to federal human trafficking charges in September, faces 14-21 months in prison when she is sentenced next month.

The charges relating to her transporting Korean immigrants across state lines to engage in prostitution came out of a federal raid at Crystal Spa in August 2006.

At Crystal, police also charged KSK, 45, of <address removed>, Flushing N.Y., with promoting prostitution. She was released on $5,000 bond.

Court records show that in Thursday's raid, police confiscated 33 hidden condoms at Crystal Spa and found used condoms in a jar of rubbing alcohol.

While serving a search and seizure warrant at Executive Spa at 178 Connecticut Ave., police charged AG, 53, of <address removed>, Norwalk, with prostitution. She was released on a $2,500 bond.

The Nirvana raid netted three arrests.

YB, 50, of Killeen, Texas, was charged with promoting prostitution, DYL, 24, of <address removed>, Norwalk, was charged with prostitution, AH, 37, of <address removed>, Norwalk, was charged with prostitution and IP, 60, of <address removed>, Oahu, Hawaii, was charged with permitting prostitution.

Sorry, I don't have a phone number. Found the address using mapquest. I have trouble understanding their accent on the phone.. The house fee was 60 and then I left a 100 "tip". Total damage for me on each of my trips was 160.

There are other places in that general area which I haven't tried yet and don't remember the names on. A complete list is out there someplace. Let me know and will try to find it.

Women face prostitution charges in Cheshire 2/6/2008

Two women were arrested on prostitution charges Tuesday at the Posh Spa and Nails in Cheshire. Police arrested the women at the spa at 306 Highland Ave. as they were executing a search warrant. Shunzi Li, 49, of 306 Highland Ave. was charged with two counts of prostitution. Chu Jin, 37, of 306 Highland Ave. was charged with one count of prostitution. Both women were being held on $10,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court today. Cheshire police said the arrests were the result of a lengthy investigation into area prostitution. Waterbury and Wallingford police assisted in the case.

Thought I'd share this story with UtopiaGuide too...

Man, I break my rules about going to these places (I'm a stripclub guy) and look what I get!

One or two of the providers actually gave a very good massage. The house fee is $60 for the hour, and I tip the provider $40.
As far as the lack of a happy ending -- never happened to me. I was a little unsure what to expect the first time, but that's part of the fun.

If I was not pleased with the lineup, or pre-determined selection, I was going to try this place. But, no carpentry. Paula was slim with bigger looking than told, B cups. Really, go check her out and tell me I'm wrong. Had a great time. Nice table setting. Paid the regular price for dinner. STAMFORD -- The owners and landlords of five city spas have filed a state Superior Court appeal against Stamford's health department, its director and the city's Health Commission for sanctions issued against the spas last year.

Last August, the health department ordered the facilities to close for offering massage therapy without a state license, city Health Director Johnnie Lee said.

The spas appealed this decision to the Health Commission, an independent oversight committee, saying they do not offer services constituting massage therapy, Lee said.

After the commission upheld the department's decision last December, the group of owners and landlords decided to appeal its decision in court, attorney Mark Katz said.

"The health department has never actually observed any defendant in the pending appeal engage in illegal activity," Katz said. "The health department has drawn conclusions from furniture and other accoutrements in a quote-unquote 'massage establishment.' "

He added that the city is only targeting Korean-owned establishments.

The facilities involved in the appeal are Rainbow Relaxation on Grenhart Road, Far East Spa on Prospect Street, Aloha Salon on East Main Street, Ginja Spa on Atlantic Street and Swedish Health Spa on Main Street, according to the addresses listed in court documents.

Katz could not say whether the businesses were in operation; calls to the facilities were not returned.

"If there are lots of young Asian woman working in the establishment and they say they are not doing massage, it has not been made clear what they are doing," Lee said. "So the question becomes are these legitimate massage establishments or are they offering other services they are not advertising?"

Katz said he does not know what services the spas provide, because it is immaterial to the case.

The spa owners and landlords also believe city regulations go beyond requirements of state law, he said.

"The state statute doesn't require fees for services provided at a licensed massage therapy parlors be posted," Katz said about a city that requires a list. "How that protects the public health is a question the city will have to answer."

City Director of Legal Affairs Tom Cassone said many arguments raised in the appeal "are legal arguments as opposed to factual arguments.

"We don't agree with them," he said.

The city's Department of Health routinely inspects facilities that require a license and a permit to operate, Lee said. Massage therapists, like plumbers and electricians, have to abide by state licensing requirements, he said.

"The standards exists basically to protect the public and to show someone has passed all the necessary requirements," Lee said. "If it were not regulated then anyone could open up an establishment and say 'we're going to offer that service.' "

Under a state law that took effect in 2008, facilities without a valid license can't use the term "massage" or any similar word in their name or any advertisement.

To receive a license, the state requires graduation from a school of massage therapy with at least 500 classroom hours with an instructor. The school must be accredited by the federal Department of Education, a state board or the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation.

There are 3,615 licensed massage therapists in the state, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Stamford Police Department Capt. Richard Conklin said a number of unlicensed massage parlors in the city and other municipalities been involved in prostitution. "Often we're also concerned about human trafficking, and many of the persons arrested have a questionable immigration status," Conklin said.

He said police run periodic undercover operations to ensure illegal services are not being offered.

"It is a very difficult crime to combat, because the prostitution is only a misdemeanor charge," Conklin said, adding sometimes legally questionable establishments change locations, names and employees.

Conklin said he could not immediately tell from police records if the five spas had any history of illegal activity.
