JANE HO

By John Pallotta;

Directed by Arian Blanco

At The Lion, Theatre Row Studios beginning Friday, November 4th

“Love For Sale… What price would you pay for a trip to paradise?”

In its continued mission to produce quality theatre on both sides of the Hudson River, The Hudson Exploited Theater Company (HExTC) once again crosses the Hudson to The Lion at Theatre Row Studios with the New York première of Jane Ho written by John Pallotta and directed by Arian Blanco.

Jane Ho is a psychologically penetrating play about the world of prostitution. Sexy, disturbing, and emotionally gripping. Spend the night with four sex workers as they reveal the inner workings of the "life", the darkest desires of the human spirit, and the power of the mirror. "Love for sale...” Jane asks, “What price would you pay for a trip to paradise?” Find out what it costs her and the price you may have already paid.

This production promises to engage audiences with the innovative staging of award winning director Arian Blanco along with the talents of *Mikaela Kafka, *Daina Michelle Griffith, *Heather Male, A.B. Lugo, and Liche Ariza (*appearing courtesy of Actors’ Equity). In addition, an original score by Andy Cohen, set and light design by Gregg Bellon, sound design by Joe DiSanzo, and featuring the "poly-vocal, verbal strategies" of John Pallotta as he guides us through the provocative underworld of Jane Ho.

Jane Ho was selected by HExTC in 2003 where it was developed and then produced at its residency space, the Park Performing Arts Center’s 32nd Street Playhouse. The strong audience response along with a generous matching gift grant from the Ford Foundation spurred HExTC to now produce this NYC premiere. "This process of nurturing, developing, and polishing new plays at our residency space in NJ and then bringing them to such a prestigious venue as Theatre Row signals an important step in legitimizing HExTC's profile as a leading producer of new works," states Artistic Director Adrian Rodriguez, “Jane Ho marks an exciting time for HExTC."

John Pallotta (playwright) a native of NYC, John has been involved in theatre, film, and television for over 20 years. As a playwright he has written over a dozen plays including How I Killed My Roommate and Got Away with It which had an eight month run at the Producers Club. Vegas which was read at the Lambs Theatre and the Steppenwolf in Chicago. Other plays include: Christmas on Mulberry Street, When I was Black, and Beyond the Palisades. Arian Blanco (director) received a Fringe Excellence Award in direction for the production of Dismiss all the Poets (2002) and most recently received an HOLA award for outstanding direction for the production of Dinosaurios (2004). Earlier this year he directed Repertorio Español’s hugely successful world premiere production of Marido encadenado by Rob Santana.
