View Full Version : New CL rules?

Has CL changed their rules for posting? I did a search for "bbbjtc" and got nothing. Usually, I get plenty of hits. A search of random ads today shows them to be relatively sterile.

From CL:

Posting a personals listing on new york city craigslist

PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES IN EROTIC SERVICES
please do NOT suggest or imply an exchange of sexual favors for money!
When posting, you agree to abide by the craigslist Terms of Use, which forbid you to post, *****, or otherwise make available content that is unlawful, pornographic, or which advertises illegal services.

please do NOT refer to specific sex acts
For example, do NOT refer to fellatio, or "giving head" or "blow jobs" or "bj" or "bbbj" or "oral" or "french". This is not a complete list - please do not refer to ANY sex act, either explicitly, implicitly, or by code word.

please do NOT include a pornographic image with your posting
If you're not sure whether a particular photo is pornographic, please do not post it.
If you are unable to follow these guidelines for "erotic services", please do not post on craigslist. Postings outside these guidelines are subject to removal, and posters of such postings are subject to blocking. craigslist may supply information about your identity to law enforcement officers in response to legal subpoena.

Just went to CL and did a search for "greek", "anal", and "BBBJ" and they all returned hits. So it still works for me.

They haven't "banned" the words yet (i.e. it's still possible to post them), but they remove postings with those words in them, so they don't stay up for too long.

The whores will have to lower there rates to get the few customers they can if they get booted. Well until a new board comes along (which wont be to long)

I always a get a good laugh out of the girls who complain on there about the guys being cheap.... while they are taking advantage of free advertsing and refuse to spend a nickel themselves. Always see a few, just about every day, who put up ad after ad, spend 5 or 6 hours straight putting up ads and answering e*mails.... but stick tight to their price (especially the $180 HJ/massage girls) and get offended if anyone asks for more time or a lower rate. Meanwhile, they could have done 3 or 4 appointments with that time. Only one real answer: they really hate doing what they are doing, find the men "icky", and will find any excuse not to do it unless they are "overpaid" for it, which makes them feel superior, etc.

(but I wouldn't be holding my breath about a new place for free advertising to come along too quickly.... free advertising is usually worth what you pay for it).

I posted an ad looking for "oral" today...was pulled down in about 2 hours. Didn't even mention money or anything...

I wonder what the long-term ramifications will be to the supply and demand of CL providers. Harder to communicate might equal lower prices as traffic decreases?? Or less providers so prices will be higher??

Forgeting about CL for moment, the usual cycle is:

1) Demand decreases
2) Providers decide that they need to make more money from each client since they have less clients, so
3) Providers raise prices, which
4) Makes less guys schedule appiontments, and
5) Providers make less money, therefore
6) Providers get angry, and
7) A lot leave the business, since they hate it anyway.

Back to CL:

I think that to a large extent CL ES has been increasingly collapsing under it's own weight due a a failure to police the over population of the same ads over and over again, which has sent it into a "death spiral", where more ads breeds more ads, with everyone competing to stay on the "first page". I think there are MAJOR problems there, but I also think that anyone who thinks it's going to die quickly should think again.

Heard CL is being bought by Ebay, hence the new "clean-up" tactic. We'll see how long That lasts...

MexicanaMami Actually Craig ex-partner sold his 25% of his shares to E-Bay and I heard Craig is not too happy about it, just something I heard through the grapevine.

ok.. soi I am a geek programmer (dont look like on though) I could get a craigs list up and running in 2 weeks tops... I am sure someone else can as well who actually will take the incentive to do it. (I wont).

"Back when" mr. newmark says he thought it would promote harmony between the guys who worked the site if he gave peices away to the people who woked there. he says tha he thought that it would never be worth anything, so it couldn't be "traded". So, recently, a guy who had 25% but no longer works there sold his 25% stake to eBay. Newmark and Jim Buckmaster are trying to pretend that it's not going to have any effect on how CL is run, and thateBay is a lot like CL, and that they are both "communities", blah, blah, blah (see the article on CL that I linked to earlier in this thread), but it's totally obvious BULLSHIT. not only is it changing already, but just look at the past behgaviour of eBay when they bought PayPal.

What will be really intersting is to see if/when eBay buys up MORE of Cl (I'm assuming that if one guy had 25%, and there's Buckmaster and Newmark, that there's probably a forth guy out there with another 25% who's alreadyt negotiating with eBay for his 25%... hen the real fun will start).

I just wish Newmark and Buckmaster didn't insult our intelligence so much with the bullshit PR campaign they are trying to push. I mean, it's obvious what's going on already, AND THEY ARE CLAIMING IT'S NOT...... what horsecrap.

PS notice they banned posting "utopiaguide.com"?

What I have seen, in part, is that there has been so much spamming and blatent advertising of sex for money it has snowballed.
Personally, I don't see and never have the reason for posting mulitpule times on CL. I would think that those providers get less responses than a person who is not a chronic poster. My experience has been that just reading a title of an ad gives you the idea if you want to read it or not. Therefore, someone who is looking for a "real" person or whateverwill look through the list until they find what they want.
Seems that what it has come to is the advertising of sex for money and explict pics.

Hey, I wrote "companionship" and they yaked in less than 40 minutes. I call bullshit...lol!
