If you haven't seen it yet there is a new show on FX called "Lucky" that is really quite good. I mean, it's not high art or anything, but it's clever, funny, and at times even poignant.
The lead character is a "professional gambler" who generally wins, but sometimes loses big time, and often
is involved in scams...usually with a sort of Robinhood aspect to it.
It's full of con men, femme fatales, casino workers, dreamers, down-and-outers, whales and penny ante gamblers, and the local Las Vegas color.
Here is a line from the show delivered by a con man, but it could just as well have come from a hooker to her client.
"Thanks! Its been a business doing pleasure with you!"

Isn't that, or something very close to it, a line from "The Best Little Whore House in Texas"?

paulie,
I suspect we saw different TV shows. You likely saw the one about professional gamblers and various other gender and class "issues". I saw the one about the power of aesthetic transcendence.

The John in question is John Corbett.
Love(d?) him as Aidan in Sex and the City.

That could be...never saw TBLWHIT...
But if that's true, and it's a reference, then that makes it all the more quirky.
