View Full Version : Can anyone say "psycho"?!

Obviously coming into contact with mentally unstable people is not a completely foreign experience to me, but some people's behavior is just so far from being excusable that you just have to take a second to say "whoa.".
I was hanging with this dude at the bar tonight and we're chatting, getting along fairly well. Later on I sit with him at a table and do a couple of dances for him. He then gives me $100, which was very nice so I hang with him for a bit more and then exuse myself because he tells me nicely he doesn't want any more dances. So I go and sit with another customer, a friend of mine. I soon notice (and so does my customer) that the guy seems to be lurking nearby and staring at me. When I get up to use the bathroom he grabs my arm and asks me when am I coming back to sit with him, and I say that I'm sorry but I'm busy with someone right then. Later he actually approaches me while I'm sitting with my friend and says; "are you two comfortable?" and then starts asking my friend if he knew where I went to college and other wierd questions. When I get up to use the bathroom later he approaches my friend again and says; "Hey, I've invested a lot of money in that girl, that shit's mine, why don't you leave and let her do what she wants?"
To make a long story short, I actually had to have this guy asked to leave. He was being a real pain in the ass.
I just don't feel that it's appropriate to assume that spending any amount of money on a dancer means that you've purchased her for the rest of the night, unless of course you've made that arrangement with her. Not only was his assumption completely innapropriate but his behavior was inexusable. You can't just walk up to a girl when she's with another guy and complain to her or him about something. What a dick! I don't think he had any idea how stupid he was making himself look. Do you guys think he was really drunk, on drugs, or just socially clueless?

I vote for Socially Clueless. Whether that was brought on by drugs or alcohol is hard to tell, and doesn't change anything anyway.

I vote for mentally ill. His behaviour went beyond socially clueless.

Whatever it was he's got problems. And I bet in his mind he didn't get his money's worth. Obviously his perception is different from yours, or from most in this instance.

Did he at least get three dances, a shoulder massage, 30 minutes of conversation and a toy?

Danielle, your behavior was inexcusable. Once a guy pays you $100, he owns you for the night. You should know that. Shame on you. I mean, $100. Wow. That's a lot of money.
I think for $150 he gets you on a collar and leash.

I hope you have the bouncers walk you out to your car/subway/etc. This guy may start hanging around the club waiting for you and he could get violent.

That is truly one of the scariest aspects of the job. Once you play and these fools believe...

I would strongly caution Danielle not to let this guy get her near any upper-story windows.

What about steps to a basement landing
That brings up a memory. 2 other friends, NYC circa 1989, us 3 drunk, 2 babes pass us by ...... before I knew it bj's were being given (for dead presidents) at the bottom of a dimly lit basement steps..... Oh those were the good ole days ... Times Square was a great place to visit, pre-Guiliani days and when he still had a full head of hair (so did I) and I could always find my way downtown by looking up for the Towers as I drove.

If you see this guy again, my advise would be not to take any $$ from him. He could be very dangerous. If you see him lurking nearby, have the bouncer "talk" to him. You deserve a long life.

If he comes by again I will definetely avoid him. the bouncers do see us outside and into cabs at the end of night, so I think I'll be safe from any stalker like activities. (I hope!)
On a side note, I find it so interesting that people can get so fucked up on drugs or alcohol that they have no idea what the hell they're doing. I've been fucked up on occassion myself, but I've never been completely socially inept, maybe a little impaired, but I've never totally forgotten the basic rules of etiqquete (sp?) or common cuertousy.
Just last week I was hanging out with some guy who for whatever reason (I'm sure we can all guess) had completely lost his short term memory. Immediately following my detailed story about my awful small-town high school experience he asks me where did I grow up. He also asked my name about five times during our one hour together. It was more bizarre than sad I think.

Didn't figure you for enjoying something so ???.
It was my favorite book throughout elementary school. (Then my mom gave me Vonnegut, then I discovered Borges, and finally I ended up with Cortezar... although even Julio may be replaced after I finish with the Quixote).

Adams, Vonnegut and Borges too... We seem to have the same breed of Babble Fish stuck in our ears.
Btw, I also have no idea what to substitute for the "???" in your post.

PS - Note that I remembered and posted the name of the Borges short story in that other thread.

Danielle,
Dealing with psycho customers must be the scariest thing about your job. Can I ask a question? Did this guy appear to be unstable or was he a normal looking guy? If you saw this guy in a store, would you try to avoid him? I know he was “handing” you money, so this was the main reason that you were even associating with him. As I have said before, I am not a big fan of “regular” strip clubs. At “the dish”, I have seen plenty of guys that looked like complete psychos. On more than once occasion, I have even made comments to the girls. I give them credit for being able to get completely naked with a guy that looks like he "just killed his entire family". I guess they have a job to do, so this is why they have to do it.
Danielle

Lawyer-
That's the scary part, he looked totally normal. Infact, he was attractive and quite charming (in the beginning). Then he just got all weird and wouldn't leave me alone. He was even there with friends who also seemed normal, so he must have been kinda normal some of the time. He was definetely on some kind of drugs, I'm thinking qualudes.
JL- What the hell was that link all about? Is there some reference to something else that's going completely over my head?

2- doped up
3- socially retarded

Yeah, well. Strip clubs seem to be powerful magnets for social retards. And before you guys get all offended allow me to add that this group includes many of my coworkers as well as customers.

Short-term memory loss man returns a week later! The interesting thing is that he remembered me and I had no clue who the hell he was. Do you guys get offended if a stripper doesn't remember meeting you if you'd only met like, once?

How could anyone be offended by something that seems so self-evident?
(Strip club conversation last Thursday
(just)Me: (something vaguely compelling)
Dancer: When you say things like that, it convinces me you're a playa
M: I know it's your job to lie to me, but you should make the lie somewhat believable
D: What do you mean?
M: What on Earth would any 'playa' be doing at a strip club dropping serious cash just to chat up a girl that would never have sex with him.
D: I see your point.

Everyone wants to be memorable. Some are, some aren't.
If it's a guy with a complex, he'll definitely be offended.
If a guy spent an amount of time dancing and talking with you, he would think you'd remember. You can only try your best to remember.

Probably not, but I will say that I warned you, remember you are always better than the scum that tries to put people down for their own betterment. I don't do it at work, I don't do it at home (well maybe sometimes) and I defintely don't do it during my hobbying activities.
