was about a year ago. I was going to a Spanish Quickie House on Roosevelt Ave. It was teh one with the beige door, above the Travel Agency on the South side of Roosevelt, just West of 80th Street. When I got to the top of the stairs, a guy in blue jeans and a sweatshirt showed me his badge and said "we're closed right now". I turned around and went back down the stairs.

Given the state of enforcement in NYC, and my knowledge of incall places throughout the city, it seems like there have been a lot of incall busts recently. Has anyone been "inside" recently when one has gone down ?

Actually, it was no big deal at all. I spent more time thinking "when will they be back open ?" than anything else.

I was also in Cuckoo's Nest a few months ago when about 5 plainclothes officers came through and shut down the action. Again, the biggest problem was the imediate "so where am I going to go now?".

I guess the big questions is "What do you do when caught in flagrante delicto ?".

Most guys who work in vice are men, and have "tasted the forbidden fruit". Generally, they are sympathetic and will allow you to put your pants on and leave. However, this may not always be the case. You're at their mercy, and they can do everything from taking you in, to just letting you go.

We have been very lucky at Julie's but I do have lots of friends and I mean lots that are getting closed down monthly by these LE guys and believe me the guy (client) always just gets booted out and sent home. They do try to scare the client a little and ask him for ID. The only thing they do is take a couple girls in and if the place has been busted a few times they may close the place and padlock the door. So if it happens. guys ,just relax and wait a few moments and you will be walking out the door to your taxi. I promise.

I have heard that sometimes after they raid a house, they replace the real working girls with police women and once you hand her the money you are escorted to the paddy wagon for a night at central booking so if the place has all new faces quickly walk out. If it's you're first time, wait and let some one go first, if he comes out then you may go in.

With all due respect,while your description of what happens to Johns during a raid is generally correct,I'm aware of 2 busts within the last year(Body Heat & PIT),where the Johns were arrested and brought downtown.
Your advice on how to behave is good. Best to keep your mouth shut and act respectful. The likelihood is the Bluecoats will merely try to intimidate you in order to dissuade further activity(or to bust your chops if they don't like the way you look).

Honey, Believe me it is not so and I can vouch for that. They do not care about the men ,they will not waste that kind of time on a bullshit ticket that is usually thrown out in one or two appearances. You guys are not the target we are. They tell the girls that they do not even like bothering the girls but must make bust now and then. Since the mayor is on a rampage to 0 tolerance we must be careful because they will lock the doors and close the place. I am telling you don't sweat it this is not Baretta.

I understand what you are saying but usually the cop that is in the house is posing as a John and they will take him out just for appearances. PIT is one good example. Katrina of PIT told us that the place was raided for no reason and I asked her if there was a new client in the house. Her answer was yes ,May I rest my case. But anything can happen so I guess always be on the lookout and understand why I am so careful about verification.

I have noticed that is depends on the class of the establishment and the type of client you are. In the past 12 yrs we have been busted 3 times. All 3 times they let the guys go. The only guys that usually get taken in are the ones who mouth off at the cops. Don't ask if they are going to let you go, that just pisses them off for some reason....just sit quietly and they will send you on you're way.

Not be contentious,but it is important that johns have the ability to accurately assess the risk,however minimal it may be.
PIT was busted do to ongoing pressure on LE by the downstairs tenant(Pastram Queen)i,who wanted the place shuttered. According to 2 of the ladies busted(and it was just about a year ago),the johns were booked as well.
Terry,the madame of Body Heat has had a long running feud with LE. They even raided her temporary brothel at the Gramercy Park Hotel,with guns drawn. When they were on 28th and lex,they were routinely busted and on one occasion,the johns were as well.
